Environmenstrual Week 2020
Women’s Environmental Network (WEN) has recently announced that this year’s Environmenstrual Week will take place between October 19-25. The focus of the week is activism and advocacy around sustainable menstruation, as outlined in their Action Week Toolkit 2020.
The objectives of Environmenstrual Week are threefold: to advocate for an end to period poverty, to promote the conversation surrounding eco-friendly period products, and to help end the taboo around periods.
To participate, WEN provides a number of suggestions on their site, including sharing posts on social media, calling on local politicians to implement the distribution of free period products in schools, fundraising, and making the switch to reusable menstrual products. They also outline a number of creative activities that merge fun and advocacy, such as hosting a film night or making your own washable pad.
Stay tuned for more updates as Environmenstrual Week approaches.
