Sustainable Menstruation Corporation Diva International Inc. named among Canada’s Greenest Employers of 2020

According to GlobeNewswire, last month, Mediacorp Canada Inc. named the Kitchener, Ontario-based Diva International Inc. one of Canada’s Greenest Employers of 2020. To be among the recipients of this honour, a company must meet several criteria, including, the development of unique environmental programs or initiatives; mitigation of the employer’s own environmental footprint; employee involvement and innovation contributing to these initiatives; and the incorporation of sustainability into the company’s public identity.

Diva International Inc. is a Certified B Corporation, with CEO and co-founder Carinne Chambers-Saini listing sustainability as one of the company’s core values. The company’s primary product, the Diva Cup, is a reusable menstrual cup wrapped in recyclable packaging that is made with vegetable-based inks. Diva aims to contribute to the reduction of the nearly 20 billion disposable menstrual products that are used annually in North America

While sustainability is embedded in the company’s work through the items they produce, it was their work on their EcoDivas committee that garnered them the honour of being named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers. This work includes a municipal partnership with Sustainable Waterloo Region, a food and recycling waste disposal program, and a reusable energy partnership with Bullfrog Power. Diva International Inc. also works to incorporate environmental alternatives at the office level, such as LED lighting with timers, a bike rack, and a paperless policy.

Whether through their central mission or sustainable business practices, it is clear that Diva International Inc. is leading the way for corporate environmental responsibility in Canada.
